Dr Crystal Mackall, Ernest and Amelia Gallo Family Professor and Founding Director of the Stanford Center for Cancer Cell Therapy presented research on GD2-directed CAR T cell therapy in diffuse midline gliomas, opening up new hope for the treatment of solid tumors using CAR T and for a deadly pediatric tumor that was previously considered untreatable. Dr Mackall also spoke about the history and broad potential for cell therapies in the treatment of cancer, and her research into macrophage phagocytosis in tumor killing while protecting T cells.
