Payer Perspectives on Drug Delivery

Alex Guth is a Managing Director and Partner in LEK Consulting’s Boston office and a member of the Life Sciences practice. He supports clients throughout the life sciences industry, including biopharma, manufacturing and academic partners. Alex advises clients across a range of strategic needs, including therapeutic area strategy, portfolio prioritization, due diligence, and opportunity forecasting and valuation. Prior to joining LEK, Alex had over 15 years of experience in biological research. He holds a bachelor’s degree with highest departmental honors in biology and a PhD in virology, both from Harvard University.

Gail Ryan, PharmD, is an experienced healthcare leader with over 20 years in the managed care industry. She brings deep expertise in evidence-based medicine, innovative payment models, trend analysis, policy development, and the assessment of emerging therapies and health technologies. Her work has played a pivotal role in shaping industry standards across the healthcare continuum, from common chronic conditions to rare and ultra-rare diseases. Currently, Dr Ryan serves as a strategic advisor to biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies, as well as venture capital firms, providing insights that drive business development, operational improvement, and successful commercialization. Her consulting also focuses on optimizing health plan engagement and developing effective market access strategies. She is widely recognized for her ability to bridge clinical evidence with strategic execution, particularly in the areas of rare diseases, digital health, and transformative therapies.

Dr. Michael Sherman is Principal at Sherman Healthcare Solutions, LLC, a consultancy providing consulting services, fractional executive-level support, and independent board service to the healthcare industry. He also holds a faculty appointment in the Department of Population Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Prior to assuming the role of advisor in May 2025, he spent two years as a full-time venture partner at RA. Prior to joining RA, Dr Sherman was Executive Vice President and CMO at Point32Health, formed by the merger of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan. Prior to Point32Health, he served as CMO of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care. Past roles include Corporate Medical Director at Humana, Vice President of Network and Consumer Solutions for UnitedHealth Group’s subsidiary Ingenix (now part of Optum), Vice President and General Manager at Thomson Medstat (now part of IBM Watson Health), as well as management roles at Immusol, a San Diego-based biotechnology company, HealthAllies, an organization created to provide discretionary medical benefits to the cash-pay market, and Da Vita, a national provider of dialysis services. Before pursuing an MBA at Harvard Business School, Dr Sherman received his MD from Yale and practiced as a cardiac anesthesiologist. He also holds a BA in Anthropology and Natural Sciences and an MS in Biomedical Anthropology from the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Sherman has served on boards of multiple commercial and nonprofit organizations.

Dr. Majmundar is a seasoned physician executive with over two decades of experience across the public, private, pharmaceutical and payer sectors, including clinical practice serving in multi-specialty group practice, FQHC,  emergency room and academic settings. She recently served as Chief Medical Officer for a startup commercial health plan and prior to this role served as a medical director for a large managed care organization.
