Accelerating Evaluations of New Device Technologies for Complex Formulations

Josh Horvath is the Head of Device Engineering at Genentech in South San Francisco, CA where he leads a team of engineers and scientists responsible for developing novel medical device/combination product technologies.  He joined Genentech in 2013 and previously spent seven years with Becton Dickinson in a variety of R&D and product development roles.  He is listed as an inventor on 45+ issued U.S. patents and is the author or co-author of more than 20 peer-reviewed journal articles.  Josh holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University. 

Jason Durkin is the Vice President of Supply Chain at Windgap Medical having worked in the combination product industry for nearly 30 years. With experience in both injection and inhalation products, Mr Durkin has spent his entire career bringing life changing technologies to patients in need.

Matthew Fordham has more than 10 years’ experience developing products for a wide range of markets; from industrial machinery and consumer electricals to wound care and diagnostics devices and sterile injectables. Over the past 5 years, he has focused exclusively on developing products in the medical and healthcare space. Mr Fordham has led major projects in wound care and parenteral drug delivery for some of the global leaders in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries; including mechanical development from concept to clinical trial units for a negative pressure wound care device, design and development of a novel pen injector platform mechanism and device, execution of design verification testing of an autoinjector platform device, design and development of a novel orally administered drug delivery device. Mr Fordham has a master’s degree in aerospace engineering, specializing in the aerodynamics of subsonic, sonic and hypersonic airflows within the context of aircraft, spacecraft and wind energy systems. After graduating, he spent several years training other engineers to design effectively, using 3D CAD systems and computational numerical modeling systems. He is a keen sportsman and fitness enthusiast, which parallels his passion for developing products in the medical, healthcare and wellbeing markets.

Sindhuja Kuchibhatla is a Senior Manager in the Device Technology & Innovation team at GSK. Her role involves leading new technology developments and innovation processes of complex and emerging combination products to suit the evolving GSK pipeline. Prior to GSK, Sindhuja worked at Regeneron, where she led the New Technologies Management team to strategically enable new drug delivery technology opportunities across key therapeutic areas such as Oncology and Immune & Inflammation. She also spent her early career at West Pharmaceutical Services on their Innovation & Technology team, designing novel connected drug delivery solutions. Sindhuja's background is in Biomedical Engineering. She attended The College of New Jersey for her undergraduate program and Cornell University for her Master’s program.

Gabrielle is a Philadelphia-based Scientific Support Manager who joined Datwyler Pharma Packaging in 2022. From 2015 to 2019, she attended Widener University and completed her Bachelors' and Masters' degrees in Biomedical Engineering. She has since worked in the pharmaceutical packaging industry, helping major drug companies determine how to safely and effectively package their drug products. Gabrielle has taken a special interest in many related topics, including the process of PERFECTing delivery systems, as well as the benefits of increased degrees of automation in the manufacturing process.
