Nathan Lockwood is Director of R&D at ProMed Pharma, LLC, where teams develop processes to manufacture long-term complex dosage forms for women’s health, ophthalmology, oncology, and other clinical indications. A focus of his team’s work has been the formulation of bioresorbable implants for sustained release applications and scale up for clinical and commercial manufacturing.  Prior to joining ProMed Pharma, he held roles at Boston Scientific and Surmodics leading pharmaceutical aspects of combination medical devices for the treatment of vascular disease and cancer.  He also worked on teams to develop lubricious and drug delivery coatings for medical devices.  Nathan holds Ph.D. and B.S. degrees in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Minnesota and Northwestern University, respectively.

Mariel specializes in emerging medical technologies and bringing first-in-class products to market. She has held leadership roles in R&D, Clinical, and Marketing at early-stage medical device companies, is a co-inventor on 39 issued patents, and holds BS and MS degrees in Biomechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

Marla is a dynamic, cross-functional leader with deep expertise spanning Scientific Affairs, Product Management, and Operations. As Director of Scientific Affairs at Clario, she brings her expertise in cardiology endpoint and a unique blend of scientific rigor and strategic insight to drive innovation across the clinical research sector. With a proven track record at Clario, she excels at bridging the gap between science and business by translating customer needs into actionable product strategies and ensuring seamless operational execution. Andrew leads ZS’s Integrated Data Review initiative, which aims to transform clinical data review from siloed functional processes to technology-enabled cross-functional data review across pharma sponsors. He works with leaders across clinical development and R&D IT to remove barriers to data quality and to reduce cycle times.

Within ZS, Andrew serves as the North America-North regional champion for driving firm-wide GenAI adoption.

Brian O’Dwyer is President of Global Clinical Development, which comprises Clinical Operations, (both Full Service Core and Functional Service Provider Operations), IQVIA Biotech, IQVIA MedTech, Patient & Site Centric Solutions, and Clinical Trial Supplies. In this role he is accountable for over 25,000 staff.

Previously, Brian was chief executive officer of IQVIA Laboratories for 7 years, where he was responsible for strategic goals, accelerating growth and ensuring high-quality delivery of lab services to our customers. Brian has more than 26 years of experience in the healthcare and laboratory industry and has broad experience in the establishment, management, integration and restructuring of both business and commercial operations across the clinical research spectrum.

Prior to IQVIA, Brian served as senior vice president of the Eurofins Scientific central laboratory business. Brian also was the senior vice president of Global Bioanalytical Services at ICON having previously led ICON’s Early Phase Clinical division in Europe and served as their group financial controller.

Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in business studies from Dublin City University, Ireland, and is a professionally Certified Management Accountant.

Sonia Bothorel currently serves as the Managing Director of Mapi Research Trust (an ICON plc company), an industry leader in the distribution and implementation of Clinical Outcome Assessments, questionnaires measuring patients’ quality of life, in global clinical trials.  At Mapi Research Trust, Sonia leads a multinational team of 140 employees across operations, sales, marketing, technology and pharmaceutical sciences, and oversees the organization’s $28 million in revenue. A seasoned life sciences executive, she also leads the Outcome Measures practice within ICON, which combines COA data and digital endpoints to enable more optimised protocols and patient-centric research. Prior to Mapi Research Trust, Sonia held positions in manufacturing in the pharmaceutical and food industries, including at Nestlé. She has more than two decades of experience spanning operations, business management, clinical research, and corporate leadership. Sonia holds an Executive MBA from France’s EM Lyon Business School, where she also serves as a Board Member.

Chris Komelasky is the CEO and co-founder of SiteBridge Research. Chris has extensive experience as a management consultant and healthcare executive in the areas of strategy, operations, data analytics, commercialization and business transformation in Pharmaceutical and CRO organizations. Chris holds a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.

Charles Fortier, PhD is an Expert Researcher in Drug Product Development at Adocia in Lyon, France, where he has been contributing since 2015. With over ten years of experience in CMC drug product formulation and in physical chemistry, Charles has supported the development of insulin and weight management peptides-based co-formulations from early-stage research through Phase 2 clinical batches.

He specializes in difficult-to-formulate peptide combinations, and biophysical strategies to enhance drug stability and pharmacokinetics. Charles has played a pivotal role in cross-functional collaborations across pharmacology, regulatory affairs, physical chemistry, chemistry and analytical science. He has also been in charge of CMC sections in regulatory submissions (INDs and IMPDs) and driven successful tech transfers and manufacturing readiness for clinical-stage programs with our trusted CDMO partners.

Charles is actively involved in proprietary formulation technology evaluation with academic and industry partners.

Mark R. Prausnitz is Regents’ Professor, Regents' Entrepreneur and J. Erskine Love, Jr. Chair in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. He carries out research on biophysical methods of drug delivery using microneedles, lasers, ionic liquids and other microdevices for transdermal, ocular and intracellular delivery of drugs and vaccines. He has published more than 350 journal articles, invented more than 75 US patents, was elected to the National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Medicine, and National Academy of Inventors, and has co-founded ten start-up companies including Micron Biomedical, Clearside Biomedical, and Alys Pharmaceuticals.

Marci Schankweiler is Founder and CEO of For Pete’s Sake Cancer Respite Foundation (FPS), established in 1999 in memory of her late husband, Peter R. Bossow, Jr. Under her leadership, FPS has pioneered the integration of respite into the continuum of cancer care, providing over 12,000 individuals—patients, caregivers, and children—with transformative Respite Experiences. FPS programs are grounded in research and measurable outcomes. Data collected from oncology professionals and families demonstrate significant improvements in coping and well-being post-respite across six health pillars: mental, physical, psychosocial, spiritual, financial and family health. These results were validated in an American Society of Clinical Oncology abstract (2020) and presented at the American Psychosocial Oncology Society national conference, underscoring the therapeutic impact of respite in cancer care. Marci and her team are leading FPS’ next phase of growth: the creation of the nation’s first Cancer Respite Center, adjacent to Woodloch Resort in Hawley, PA. Opening in 2027, the Center will expand access to care and incorporate respite into oncology practice as a replicable model of supportive care. Marci’s vision is to transform how the cancer community views and integrates respite, advancing its role in improving patient outcomes, family resilience, and quality of life throughout the cancer journey.
