Mateja Kramer, PhD

Mateja Kramer received her bachelor’s degree in microbiology in 2002,
followed by a master’s degree in 2005 and a doctoral degree in 2010 from the
University of Ljubljana, Faculty of Pharmacy, Slovenia, in the field of rapid
microbiological technologies. She moved in 2002 to the Microbiology Analytical
Science & Technology (AS&T) at Novartis, Slovenia, as a research fellow, and
in 2010 became Head AS&T, responsible for managing microbiological quality
systems, testing and release of the bulk and finished dosage forms. In 2015,
she joined Novartis solid dosage forms Packaging site in Lendava, Slovenia,
where she was responsible for a batch certification and release. In 2018, she
joined Technical Research Development Biologics and Cell & Gene Therapies where she was
responsible for managing innovation projects. Currently, she is a Global Head of Innovation in Technical
Research Development responsible for leading the global enterprise innovation system across the drug
development process for both biologics and chemical molecules. She has authored and co-authored 16
publications and mentored over 10 graduate students and research fellows. For 13 years she was an
Expert in Water for pharmaceutical purposes nominated by European Directorate for the Quality of
Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM), Council of Europe. She received the Best of the Best business practice
award 2022 granted by the American Chamber of Commerce. Under her leadership, Innovation Council
received the 2024 Innovation Impact Award for the best sustainable innovation program.
