Thérèse Menear is a seasoned and experienced leader within the drug development space, specifically within clinical trial operations and execution. She joined Exelixis in September 2022 and during her tenure has served as Vice President, Clinical Operations and most recently, she has assumed the role of Vice President, Operational Excellence. From November 2006 to September 2022, Thérèse was at GSK where she held many roles of increasing responsibility, to include Vice President, Global Pharma Clinical Delivery in which she led a global team of approximately 300 members across approximately 200 clinical trials. Prior to GSK, Thérèse was a member of the Project Management (PM) team at Covance, a contract research organization, where she eventually led the North American PM Team, a team of 75 seasoned PM professionals. She started her career at Clinical Research Group, an oncology site management organization and over her 5 years with CRG, she helped grow the company from a 4 to 50 person company while serving as a member of the executive leadership team; Thérèse credits this initial experience to the start of her 30+ year career helping to bring new medicines to patients in need. Thérèse holds a BA degree from University of Scranton in International Languages & Business. She resides in Havertown, PA, with her family.

Michele Sample is a trained clinical operations expert with over 30 years of clinical trial experience.

Michele joined AstraZeneca in 2020 as the Vice President of Late Development Oncology Clinical Operations and leads a global team of clinical operations experts to execute the Oncology portfolio. Michele is directly responsible for global clinical trial delivery including program management, study management, site management and monitoring, managing approximately 1,600 people.  

Before joining AstraZeneca, Michele was responsible for global development operations at Incyte, including clinical operations, medical writing, data management, monitoring and clinical trial logistics. Prior to this, Michele held varying leadership positions at GSK, Novartis, Covance and a small biotech company which contributed to the approval of multiple cancer medications.

Michele is passionate about reimagining clinical trial execution with a focus on site engagement and decentralization of clinical trials. Her main research interests include oncology clinical trial execution excellence, increasing diversity in clinical trials and reducing health disparities.  

Michele holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Widener University and a Master of Clinical Research and Organizational Management from Drexel University.

Kelly Hoang, Ph.D., is an Associate Director and Data Scientist at the AI Research Center within the Clinical Data Science organization at Gilead Sciences. In her role, she and her team are dedicated to harnessing the power of artificial intelligence and machine learning to develop data-driven tools and solutions that enhance clinical development and operations. Kelly earned her Ph.D. in Information Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where her research focused on machine learning, natural language processing, and their applications in the biomedical domain. She is passionate about building intelligent systems that transform complex data into meaningful insights and compelling narratives, ultimately driving innovation in healthcare.

Vivian Cheng Larsen is a seasoned leader with over 20 years of experience in healthcare, specializing in patient engagement and advancing scientific innovations through clinical trial diversity. As Associate Director at Exelixis, she leads strategies to enhance patient recruitment and retention, ensuring inclusive and equitable clinical research. Vivian has held senior roles at GSK and Takeda, where she championed patient centricity throughout R&D and built global initiatives to embed diverse patient voices into drug development.

A passionate advocate for underserved communities, she has been featured in national media for her work in advancing health equity and mobilizing action around cancer patient needs, including raising awareness for diverse participation in clinical trials and bone marrow donor registries.
