Michael LaBarre has over 28 years of experience across all aspects of biopharmaceutical research and drug development. Dr LaBarre joined Halozyme in 2008 and has held leadership positions in product development, alliance management, research, and regulatory affairs during that time. He is currently Senior Vice President, Chief Technical Officer providing technical leadership across all Halozyme programs and is the lead expert on Halozyme’s ENHANZE® drug delivery technology. Previously, Dr LaBarre served from 1995 to 2006 in various research and development positions at IDEC, later Biogen Idec, where he was involved in numerous IND and BLA submissions, including those for the commercial products RITUXAN® and ZEVALIN®. Dr LaBarre began his career at Hybritech in San Diego in 1992 and taught chemistry laboratory for several years as an adjunct professor at Mesa Community College earlier in his career. Dr LaBarre received his BS in Chemistry from Southampton College of Long Island University and his PhD in Chemistry from the University of Arizona.

Robert Langer is one of 9 Institute Professors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); being an Institute Professor is the highest honor that can be awarded to a faculty member. He has written over 1,500 articles, which have been cited over 400,000 times; his h-index of 315 is the highest of any engineer in history and the 2nd highest of any individual in any field. His patents have licensed or sublicensed to over 400 companies; he is a cofounder of a number of companies including Moderna. Dr Langer served as Chairman of the FDA’s Science Board (its highest advisory board) from 1999-2002. His over 220 awards include both the United States National Medal of Science and the United States National Medal of Technology and Innovation (he is one of 3 living individuals to have received both these honors), the Charles Stark Draper Prize (often called the Engineering Nobel Prize), Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, Albany Medical Center Prize, Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences, Kyoto Prize, Wolf Prize for Chemistry, Millennium Technology Prize, Priestley Medal (highest award of the American Chemical Society), Gairdner Prize, Hoover Medal, Dreyfus Prize in Chemical Sciences, BBVA Frontiers of Knowledge Award in Biomedicine, and the Balzan Prize. He holds 41 honorary doctorates, including Harvard, Yale, Columbia, and Northwestern, and has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine, the National Academy of Engineering, the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Inventors.

Sergie Letser joined Nanoform in 2020 and is currently the Deputy CCO and SVP of Business Development. Sergie started his career as a process chemist and was involved in scaling operations from kilo through to commercial scale API and drug product before transitioning to a customer facing roles. He has broad experience in pharmaceutical development and manufacturing and has previously held senior business development positions at Porton Pharma Solutions, Johnson Matthey, and Cambridge Major Laboratories.

Dan Lock, a design psychologist and human factors specialist, leads TTP’s efforts to apply psychology and behavioral science research to the design of medical devices and digital health solutions. With twenty years’ experience conducting research with patients and clinicians across the globe, Mr Lock has expertise in patient experience, risk management and interaction design for medical products, ranging from insulin injectors to point-of-care diagnostics and digital health SAMD applications. Mr Lock is a key member of TTP’s technology development programs and applies invaluable design insights to deliver user friendly devices and systems and has created a number of helpful guides including a framework for understanding adherence behavior, a design toolkit and a predictive model of medication adherence. He holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Warwick, a Master’s degree in Human-Computer Interaction with Ergonomics from UCL and is a Chartered member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (C ErgHF).

Dr Jim MacKrell is Associate VP and Head Lilly Ventures – East Coast (USA), at Eli Lilly and Company. He is responsible for supporting the strategy and implementation of Lilly’s early phase external innovation and partnering initiatives. He provides scientific leadership at the intersection of Lilly’s venture capital strategy, working with key innovation sources, including venture capital firms, biotech’s, and universities to identify investment and partnership opportunities for Lilly. Since joining Lilly in 2013, Dr MacKrell has served roles leading research programs in early discovery, R&D strategy, external innovation, and as a leader of Lilly’s early trailblazer teams, championing innovative ways to bring Lilly science to patients with speed. He has led multiple programs through Lilly’s portfolio, delivering several NMEs through clinical testing in the metabolic disease space. He is passionate about identifying emerging scientific assets, technologies, and portfolio opportunities across the early biotechnology landscape. Dr MacKrell holds a degree in biology and biomedical engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a doctorate in Molecule Physiology from the University of Michigan Medical School.

Bernd Mahlmann, Executive MBA, is a senior business development executive with over 15 years of experience in the international pharmaceutical and medical device industries. He specializes in driving customer-centric transformation and supporting strategic growth. At Ypsomed, he focuses on advising pharmaceutical partners in selecting optimal drug delivery systems tailored to their therapeutic assets—ensuring effective treatment outcomes and improved patient experience. Bernd combines strategic insight with hands-on expertise to support companies navigate complex challenges and seize growth opportunities across global markets.

Jim Martineau is the Co-Founder / CEO of Nosis Biological Sciences. Mr Martineau co-founded Nosis after working for more than 15 years at the intersection of data science and healthcare innovation. Most recently, Mr Martineau was Head of Oncology Products at Natera (NASDAQ: NTRA) where he was responsible for the product roadmap, product definition, and strategic vision for Natera’s Oncology product portfolio. Prior to Natera, Mr Martineau spent four years with Flatiron Health (acquired by Roche in 2018 for $2 billion). Mr Martineau received his MBA in Health Care Management from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He earned his MS in Computational & Mathematical Engineering from Stanford University and his BS in Engineering Physics from the Colorado School of Mines.

Jérôme Marzinski is a seasoned medtech leader, board member and investor in Life sciences, having held a variety of senior roles over a more than 25-year career, with significant experience in scaling and exiting venture capital projects, private equity-funded businesses in the sector, and having completed 15 M&A transactions and raised over €50m of growth capital.  

He is the CEO of OxSonics Therapeutics, a medtech spun off from the University of Oxford, which has developed SonoTran, an ultrasound-triggered drug delivery platform. Early efficacy and safety of the SonoTran was demonstrated in the first feasibility clinical trial run in Oxford, United Kingdom, on mCRC (metastatic colorectal cancer) patients.

Most recently Jérôme was the Interim Chief Executive Officer of Cimon Medical, overseeing the CE mark clearance for the Company’s lead product under new Medical Device Regulations. He is currently the Chairman of Cimon Medical. Prior to this, he spent three years as Chief Executive Officer at Visiometrics (Trade sale completed to a privately held ophthalmic company in the UK), spent six years in senior positions at ev3, and was Chief Operating Officer at Vexim. Jérôme has an MA in corporate financing and accounting from the University of Lille, and in 2012 completed the TRIUM Global Executive MBA, jointly issued by New York University Stern School of Business, London School of Economics and Political Science, and HEC Paris School of Management.

Bryan Mazlish is the co-founder and CEO of Surf Bio, a biopharmaceutical company launched in 2021 to commercialize a novel drug formulation technology developed at Stanford University. He entered the life sciences industry in 2012 following a family health diagnosis, co-founding Bigfoot Biomedical, a medical device company focused on diabetes care. Bigfoot’s first product, Bigfoot Unity, received FDA clearance in 2021. Mr. Mazlish served as President of Bigfoot until 2020 and remained on its Board of Directors until the company’s acquisition by Abbott in 2023. Earlier in his career, Mr. Mazlish built a successful track record in quantitative finance, managing trading desks at Citi and later founding Overlook Capital, a fully automated trading firm. He earned his A.B. magna cum laude from Harvard College.
