Saba Ghassemi, PhD graduated with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Villanova University. She then completed her PhD at Columbia University, training under Drs. Michael Sheetz and James Hone. During this time, she was an active member of an NIH-funded interdisciplinary center: The Nanomedicine Development Center (NDC) for Mechanobiology, Directing the Immune Response. During her PhD studies, Dr. Ghassemi identified an intracellular sarcomere-like unit that is responsible for sensing the mechanical properties of the extracellular environment. Combining nanotechnology and cell biology, she showed that this mechano-sensing unit operates at the nanoscale regime. Dr. Ghassemi completed her post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania at the Center for Cellular Immunotherapies (CCI) in Dr. Michael Milone’s lab. She focused on improving CAR T cell differentiation and potency. Her studies showed that CAR T cells progressively differentiate over time: reducing the ex vivo expansion to 3 days increases potency and durable efficacy in pre-clinical models of ALL. The findings from this work are currently being translated into a clinical trial at UPenn led by Dr. Carl June. Dr. Ghassemi was awarded the St. Baldrick’s Scholar Award (2018), Early Career Scientific Research Award from the National Blood Foundation (2019), as well as a DoD Career Development award (2020). Dr. Ghassemi has emerged as an expert in the CAR T cell field with invitations to present her findings at national and international conferences (ASH, ASGCT, AAI, ISCT) and is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications. She is also a co-inventor on several patents involving methods for improving the efficacy, expansion, and fitness of CAR T cells for adoptive immunotherapy. The overarching goals of the Ghassemi Lab are to use a multidisciplinary approach that combines engineering with CAR T cell immunology to develop potent CAR T cells for adoptive immunotherapy of cancer.

Kasumi Ito is a R&D scientist of NOF CORPORATION. She has been developing LNP formulations. She has made contributions to the development of mRNA-LNP platform using proprietary ionizable lipids.

Trevan Locke is an Assistant Research Director at Duke-Margolis working on issues related to biomedical innovation and clinical research. He oversees Duke-Margolis' involvement as a founding member of the Advancing Clinical Trials at the Point of Care Coalition and workstreams on evidence generation for Duke-Margolis' Real-World Evidence Collaborative. Previously, he worked as a Regulatory Science and Policy Analyst at the American Association for Cancer Research on regulatory issues impacting the development of cancer therapies, including considerations for equitable clinical trial enrollment. Dr. Locke completed a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at Vanderbilt University and a PhD in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering at Rutgers University.

With over 10 years of experience in Life Sciences, predominantly in the R&D area, Sharma Ramanathan supports several pharma clients and internal asset development to optimize clinical trials end to end through advanced analytics & data sciences, data management & governance, real-world evidence, and other advisory & consulting services. Sharma has supported several pre and post-market safety and epidemiology studies and regulatory reporting for big pharma.

Greg Woo is a Product Manager, CRF Data Acquisition and Ingestion in Informatics at Roche.  He has over 20 years of experience in R&D Engineering & Informatics (Roche and Amgen).  At Roche/Genentech, Greg has worked on a number of technology platforms including Biosample Management, Protocol Digitalization, Data Warehouses, and Digital Health Data Systems.

Jim earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry and a Master of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of California at Santa Barbara. Sarah White, MPH, MRCT Center Executive Director, is responsible for developing, defining, and implementing the overall strategy and vision for the Center as well as oversee all management aspects of the MRCT Center functions. Ms White has over 20 years of experience in human subjects’ research including experience at both academic medical centers and industry.

Prior to joining the MRCT Center, Ms White was the Director of the Human Research Quality Improvement Program (QI Program) at Partners’ Healthcare in Boston, Massachusetts. In this capacity, she was responsible for strategic planning and oversight of the QI Program activities across the human research communities at Partners Healthcare, including Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham and Women’s Hospital. In addition, Ms White oversaw FDA Sponsor-Investigator support and the centralized support of clinical trials registration and disclosure. Sarah is the co-chair of the national Clinical Trials Registration Taskforce, a large consortium of academic medical centers, hospitals and universities that identify best practices, develop tools, and serve as a communication forum associated with the requirements for clinical trials registration and results reporting that affect US academic health centers. Sarah received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and her MPH from Boston University School of Public Health.

Dr Christopher McNair is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Oncology and serves as the Director of Cancer Informatics and the Enterprise Associate Director for Data Science at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center at Thomas Jefferson University. Dr McNair provides informatics leadership and oversees the development of technologies and applications for use by the SKCCC research population. These include data capture software, bio-specimen collection tools, research data warehouse and associated applications, catchment area tools, and those to support genomic research. Dr McNair also serves as the co-director for the SKCCC’s precision medicine program which aims to standardize molecular testing across the center, decrease disparities in testing, and increase genomic-driven research studies and state of the art clinical trials at SKCCC.

Rosemary is the ad interim Head of Global Clinical Operations at Novartis with  responsibility for over 4500 people in more than 60 countries delivering clinical trials. She is a member of the Development Leadership Team (DLT) and Innovation Management Board (IMB) of Novartis. Prior to this ad interim responsibility  Rosemary was Global Head of Novartis Study and Site Operations.

She joined Novartis in 2001 and has a breadth of experience across the drug development continuum having held leadership roles in patient safety, medical, clinical, and global clinical operations, in addition to leading  several organizational transformations. She is passionate about the science and art of drug development.

Rosemary studied medicine at the University of the Witwatersrand in South Africa, followed by a diploma in anesthetics and then practicing medicine in Johannesburg. She remains a member of the South African Medical Association and the College of Medicine of South Africa. Additionally, she has a Graduate Certificate in Pharmacoeconomics and completed the Certificate Course in Medicine and Law at the University of South Africa.

Rosemary joined the pharmaceutical industry in South Africa, before moving to Switzerland with Novartis, and is now located in the USA with her husband and 2 children.
