Workforce Planning & Reducing Churn to Support Clinical Research as a Care Option

Susan P Landis serves as the Executive Director for the Association of Clinical Research Professionals. Prior to joining the Association, Ms Landis led Strategic Engagement & Marketing Communications for the Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI), the largest academic research institute in the world. While at Duke, Ms Landis established and led the DCRI Research Communications & Engagement group and created ResearchTogether™, a model for championing patient engagement at every phase in clinical research trials and studies. With her team, she ushered in a unique method for returning results to trial participants and established the first-ever Engagement Protocol™ model. Ms Landis also served as a team member on commercial-funded interventional and outcome studies and several large government-funded trials, including the Environmental Influences on Child Health Outcomes program (ECHO), the ABC Science Collaborative, and RADx-UP. Prior to joining Duke, Ms Landis worked at Quintiles (now IQVIA) as an executive for the company’s Patient Engagement division. She also managed the company’s branding initiatives and thought leadership program and served as a corporate communications business partner for the company’s business units that represented more than $5 billion and 30,000 employees.

Dr Suzanne J Rose, the Executive Director of Research for Stamford Hospital holds an MS and PhD in Biomedical science from Albany Medical College. She was recently inducted into the 2021 class of Fellows of the Association of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP), a recognition less than 45 members of the clinical research profession hold globally. Fellowship is a mark of distinction and leadership. ACRP recognizes individuals who have made substantial contributions to the association and the clinical research industry.Her role as Director entails overseeing all clinical trials and managing the research team. Under her guidance, The Office of Research encompasses the Clinical Trials Office, Center for Simulation and Learning and Office of Academic Research. Dr Rose is also an Adjunct Professor for Sacred Heart University Master of Physician Assistant Program and Purdue Global University Undergraduate Health Science Studies.Dr Rose is an avid speaker at conferences and webinars on various topics including Team Building, Leadership, Principal Investigator Compensation and Clinical Research Coordinator Workload Assessment Tools. In addition, she is a Certified Group Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer. She enjoys spending time with her husband and two teenage daughters hiking, running, watching movies, and baking.

Brian Sevier is the Sr Associate Director of Research Operations for the Yale Center for Clinical Investigation at Yale University. He has been involved in academic research administration for over 20-years, and has previously led clinical research operations at the University of Florida’s Office of Clinical Research, UF Health Cancer Center, and the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute. He is passionate about clinical and translational science workforce development and research operations.

Jennifer Sheller joined Merck in 2017 as an Associate Vice President, Clinical Operations. She is currently the Global Head of Monitoring Excellence, Site Development/Engagement and Trail Diversity. She also serves as an R&D integration lead for biotech acquisitions. Ms Sheller’s background includes a bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, a Master’s of Public Health in epidemiology and graduate coursework in QA/RA and Project Management. She began her career as a CRA and has worked in various roles with increasing responsibility including global program and therapeutic area leadership, functional leadership (trial operations, data management, clinical supplies) as well as serving on the front line for FDA sponsor inspections.
