Leveraging Mobile Technologies in the Development of Novel Digital Endpoints

Michelle Crouthamel is the Managing Director, Digital Health Strategy and Implementation at Abbvie. She is an industry leader who integrates digital health in pharmaceutical product development and collaborates broadly with academics, tech, consortia, and health authorities to create impact. As the Managing Director of Digital Health Strategy at AbbVie, Michelle leads the efforts of generating novel digital evidence to support assets development and differentiation. Prior to joining AbbVie, Michelle led many successful R&D programs at Merck and GSK. She is a scientific advisor to many tech companies, an inventor with multiple patents, and an author who published extensively in Neuroscience, Oncology, and Digital Health. Michelle has a Doctorate degree from the Fox Business School, Temple University, a Master degree from the Institute of Neuroscience, and a Bachelor degree in Nursing from the National Yang-Ming University, Taiwan.

Tony Fantana is Lead, Emerging Technology Strategy – Clinical Design, Delivery & Analytics, Eli Lilly and Company.  He is passionate about creatively solving high unmet medical need problems by assembling, leading, and developing great teams. At Eli Lilly, he is responsible for executing pilots and proof-of-concept studies, exploring new ideas for clinical designs and models, and prioritizing capabilities for broad scaling. Prior to this role, he founded and led the Global Patient Safety Analytics and Innovation Hub. Dr Fantana spearheaded the push to better monitor health by remote means in clinical trials, for which he received a Lilly Innovation Award.Dr Fantana trained at Harvard Medical School, where he received a PhD in Neuroscience. He worked as a management consultant, started and led the Movement Lab as an Assistant Professor at Bowling Green State University, served as a visiting scientist and visiting professor at Massachusetts General Hospital and Brown University, and founded and led a medical device company.  When not in the office, Dr Fantana can be found cross-country skiing, biking, or hiking with his family, and mentoring the middle school robotics team.
