A native of Philadelphia, Susan Thornton spent 28 years in the healthcare information technology field in various consulting, sales and marketing positions. She is a cutaneous lymphoma patient and first began her involvement with the Cutaneous Lymphoma Foundation as a board member in 2008. She moved into a consulting role with the Foundation in 2011 focusing on managing the Foundation’s programs and services. In May 2012, Ms Thornton assumed the role of Interim CEO and was appointed permanent CEO in July of 2012.

Outside of her professional endeavors, she has been active in many non-profit organizations in the Philadelphia region, holding Board positions at the Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter of the Sierra Club, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Eastern PA Chapter, and was one of the original members of the Tristate Multisport Association.

Ms Thornton holds a Marketing/Management degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, Certification in Fundraising from the University of Pennsylvania and recently received certification as an Archetypal Consultant from the CMED Institute in Chicago, Nutrition and Health Advisor certification from the Sanoviv Medical Institute, and Dream Coach Certification from Dream University in Los Angeles

Dusty Majumdar, PhD is a seasoned leader in Precision Healthcare with more than 20 years of experience in building and successfully launching innovative technologies across oncology, multi-omics, Real-World Evidence (RWE). diagnostic imaging and liquid biopsy platforms leveraging some of the industry’s most advanced AI platforms, genomic and clinical simulations (digital twins), and emerging medical imaging technologies. Dr Majumdar’s experience includes leading strategy and marketing as the Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at IBM and multiple commercial and technical leadership roles at GE Healthcare, Exact Sciences and 3M. He has also led the commercial and strategic functions in a range of start-ups in the healthcare/biopharma space over the last few years. Dr Majumdar is a widely respected global leader in the healthcare industry and holds a PhD from the University of Texas at Austin and a bachelor’s degree from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He has authored several peer-reviewed scientific publications and holds multiple patents.

Chuck Gelb leverages his broad experience of over two decades in the pharmaceutical and Clinical Research Organization (CRO) sectors to offer critical perspectives on sponsor requirements, guiding the global sales force effectively. Working closely with marketing, business operations, and client-facing teams, he orchestrates commercial strategies to align with Phastar's broader vision and meet the evolving needs of Phastar’s customers. With a background in both science and business, he is passionate about applying lateral thinking and not just delivering “a solution”, but the “right solution” to optimize outcomes. He possesses an MBA with a focus in Pharmaceutical Management, a Master's in Biotechnology, and a Bachelor’s in Biochemistry.

Annlouise R. Assaf, PhD, is a pharmaco-epidemiologist who is a Senior Director, Patient Health Activation Expert, Global Medical Patient Impact Assessment (GMPIA) within Worldwide Medical and Safety at Pfizer. In Dr Assaf's role she partners to evolve the science and practice of quality benefit risk communication. This focus allows for the improvement of patient health activation and equity and the optimization of patient-facing health content so that patients can make informed shared decisions about their treatment with their healthcare providers, use their medications safely and appropriately, and improve value outcomes. Prior to joining Pfizer, she spent many years in academic medicine and clinical research. She received her doctorate from Roswell Park Cancer Institute at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and is currently a Professor (Adjunct) at Brown University School of Public Health and the University of Massachusetts School of Medicine.

Dr Geraldine Grove, Study and Digital Solutions, AstraZeneca - has an extensive career in pharma and biotechnology spanning over 20 years. Her journey has predominately focussed on clinical strategy and operations however in recent years she has moved to lead a group responsible for the implementation of technology in clinical trials.

Technology plays an important role in trials today and in society as a whole, with the team at AstraZeneca she hopes to bring reality to delivery and better meet the needs of patients and sites.

Mike Zincone is the US Senior Director of Patient Advocacy on Pfizer’s Global Patient Advocacy team. He has 25 years of diverse bio-pharma experience (all at Pfizer) with demonstrated success and credibility in working with patient advocacy organizations and leading teams.

During his tenure with Pfizer he has worked across multiple roles in positions of increased accountability. Some highlights worth noting include:

1) A diversity of jobs which allowed him to work across multiple disease areas that include Diabetes, CVD, Neurology, Women’s Health, Pain, Long Term Care, Oncology, Anti-infectives and Rare Disease

2) 10+ years of directly leading teams at Pfizer across both sales and advocacy based positions

3) 15 years of patient advocacy experience in Oncology, Rare Disease and Public Policy

4) Served on multiple leadership and advisory positions in Pfizer and the advocacy community around topics such as long term care, patient navigation, survivorship, biomarker testing, shared decision making, health literacy, developing patient advocacy functions and patient centered clinical development.

Mr Zincone believes that all successful partnerships are built upon maximizing the collective expertise of relevant stakeholders. As CEO, Carlos Orantes provides leadership and strategic direction for site network. With over 30 years of experience within the life sciences industry, his career has included executive leadership, operational management, LEAN Six Sigma process improvement, as well as systems and technology deployment.

Most recently, Mr Orantes served as Executive Director, Site Operations for Accelerated Enrollment Solutions, a business of PPD and ThermoFisher Scientific. There, he led the site operations for the Americas site operations in support of the company’s vast global clinical trial network.

Prior to joining PPD, Mr Orantes served as Chief Executive Officer of Amplify Clinical and Accel Research Sites, where he developed the business strategy to effectively compete in Phase II-III clinical research involving multi-therapeutic trials and specialty vaccines. He also led activities related to both companies’ asset purchase by private equity.

Earlier career positions included 20 years of operational, quality assurance, process improvement and laboratory management roles of increasing responsibility at Covance, now part of LabCorp.

Mr Orantes earned a Master of Business Administration degree from Old Dominion University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from George Washington University. He is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Six Sigma Academy.

Mark Scullion is the CEO of Atlas Clinical Research, a therapeutically driven clinical research site network built on centralized process excellence and integrated technology. Mr Scullion has spent more than 17 years in the clinical research industry. Before Atlas, Mr Scullion was most recently the Global Head of Trial Monitoring for Novartis AG, and also previously held leadership roles at Syneos Health and IQVIA, where he developed novel approaches to clinical trial design and execution. At Novartis Mr Scullion led a group of clinical professionals delivering over 300 clinical studies in partnership with 14,000 investigative sites across the world.

Dr. Carmen is the Vice President of Business Development for Kincell Bio, a contract development and manufacturer (CDMO) focused on cell therapies. She has over 20 years of experience in the cell and gene therapy industry. Previously, she was Executive Vice President of Science & Technology at Adjuvant Partners; supporting companies in the cell and gene therapy space with their strategy, partnering, and business development needs. In a consulting capacity, she has supported the business development team at Oxford Biomedica, a manufacturer of clinical and commercial viral vectors. She has a broad technical knowledge base in cell and gene therapies with deep understanding of manufacturing of these innovative medicines and unique insights into the commercialization of tools and services to support the manufacture of these therapies. In her prior roles she has been responsible for out-licensing a non-viral enabling technology for cellular engineering at MaxCyte. She also has been responsible for establishing partnerships with developers of cell-based medicines in order to expand the cell therapy contract manufacturing business at Lonza. Dr. Carmen has been instrumental in the establishment of the Standards Coordinating Body for Regenerative Medicines and is currently serving as Vice President of the Board of Directors. She has been a member of the Science and Technology Committee of the Alliance for Regenerative Medicine and has served on the Commercialization Committee for the International Society of Cellular Therapy. Dr. Carmen earned a Doctorate from the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Florida.
