David E. Lanfear, MD, MS, Professor of Medicine, is System Vice President for Clinical and Translational Research, and Co-Director of the Center for Individualized and Genomic Medicine Research (CIGMA). Dr. Lanfear is a practicing transplant cardiologist, a clinician scientist focused on precision medicine and genomics, and an active clinical trialist with experience in single and multicenter trials. 

Lani Hashimoto is dedicated to connecting trials to patients with 25 years of clinical trial experience, operational expertise, and extensive industry relationships. Joining Novartis in October 2013, she has worked on innovation and operations teams. this year including grassroots efforts to engage with patients. In 2018, she joined the TransCelerate Patient Experience initiative and has been co-leading the team for the last two years. Ms Hashimoto recently transitioned to a patient engagement role in US late phase trials focused in the US.

Shelly Barnes is the UCB Global Innovations Lead . She is accelerating innovative strategies and solutions driving the improvement of the patient experience within the conduct of their clinical trials. Ms Barnes is delivering solutions using novel technologies, transforming from traditional clinical trials to patient preferred clinical trials while maintaining quality, compliance and stakeholder commitments. Ms Barnes actively represents UCB on several industry consortiums including DTRA, CTTI, TransCelerate and IMI.

As Vice President of Site Solutions & Engagement for WCG Clinical, Jamie Harper develops and executes strategical solutions mitigating the challenges experienced at clinical research sites around the globe. Ms. Harper is driven to help sites meet critical study endpoints and reach important milestones to accelerate clinical research.

Scott Stout has been recognized as one of the top healthcare innovators of 2021.  While working as a professional investor in high-finance, He identified a large gap in the clinical trial marketplace and seized the opportunity to build a team of healthcare, high tech, and venture capitalists to turn his concept of expanding clinical trials, “Beyond Clinical Trial Sites,” into a reality.  Prior to founding MedVector, Mr Stout worked with notable companies such as Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo Private Bank.  His entrepreneurial spirit has driven him to help numerous start-ups develop their market-fit, revenue models, capital raises, and go-to-market strategies.

Lucy R. Langer, MD, MSHS, is the National Medical Director of Oncology and Genomics at UnitedHealthcare. Dr Langer earned her medical degree at Stanford and completed fellowship in hematology and oncology at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, where she also earned a master’s degree in Health Services Research. She has been a practicing oncologist with Compass Oncology in Portland, OR since 2007.

Michelle Rowe, RN serves as the Vice President for HCA Healthcare Research Institute. HCA Healthcare Research Institute (HRI) is the multispecialty clinical research arm of HCA Healthcare that is focused on advancing care for every individual through an affiliated network of providers and sites. In her role, she is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy and direction of all clinical research operations within the HCA Healthcare network across 12 divisions at 33 sites, including cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopedics, infectious disease, women’s and children’s and behavior health areas. 

Barbara Troupin is a serial Chief Medical Officer, C-suite/VC advisor, entrepreneur, and public-company independent board director. She currently sits on the Board and is member of the Nomination and Governance Committee for Equillium Bio (NASDAQ:EQ), is an Entrepreneur in Residence at UCSF assisting a founder in developing a gene editing company, and serves as an advisor to venture funds and emerging companies in the therapeutics space. Over her 20+ years as a life science executive, her roles have spanned Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Operations and Strategy functional areas, and she has worked at both private and public biotech or small pharma companies. She has a strong preference for emerging companies where she can have a real impact on corporate strategy and external narrative, decision making processes to drive internal clarity and effectiveness, and in setting a work culture which is engaged, empowered, and inclusive. She helps companies scale in a stage- and resource-appropriate manner focusing on best strategies for value creation. She holds an MD from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business. She has been a member of the Athena Alliance since 2018 and currently runs their Peer Group in the Life Sciences, was selected for the 2019 Women in Bio Boardroom Ready cohort and participated in Harvard’s executive education for Women on Life Science Boards. She is broadly curious, an avid mentor and connector, and values relationships where mutual learning and growth occurs.

Katie serves as Halloran’s Chief Innovation Officer and leads their consulting business and practices. Ms McCarthy and her team focus on the development of assets, products, and portfolios and in optimizing life science organizations to improve performance through people, process, data, and technology. Ms McCarthy often functions as an on-demand Head of Development, Head of Strategy, or Chief Operating Officer and advises on corporate strategic planning, directs clinical development portfolios, and provides recommendations to ease the challenges of drug development. As a member of the Executive Team, Ms McCarthy focuses on designing the vision to fuel Halloran’s future growth and building the consulting team to deliver it. Ms McCarthy is a Prosci certified Change Management Professional.

Prior to joining Halloran, Ms McCarthy held a series of progressive positions with Biogen across several functions and roles, including Program and Alliance Management, Medical Research, Organizational Effectiveness, Clinical Development, and Clinical Operations. Before joining Biogen, Ms McCarthy was a Clinical Research Coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Abbie Celniker has over 30 years of experience in Senior R&D and Executive leadership roles. As partner at Third Rock Ventures, she focuses on the formation, development and strategy of portfolio companies. She has a strong commitment to culture, and prioritizes establishing experienced, diverse teams.

Prior to joining the firm, she served as president and CEO of Eleven Biotherapeutics (now Sesen Bio) since 2011. Previously, Dr Celniker was the president and CEO of Taligen Therapeutics from 2008 to 2011, when Taligen Therapeutics was acquired by Alexion Pharmaceuticals; following the acquisition, she served as Alexion’s executive vice president, translational medicine. She has served as the global head of biologics of Novartis AG, the senior vice president of R&D strategy and operations of Millennium Pharmaceuticals (now Takeda) and the vice president of protein technologies of the Wyeth Research facilities. She is a member of the board of directors of Abata Therapeutics and Flare Therapeutics. She has a B.A. in biology from the University of California, San Diego, and a Ph.D. in molecular biology from the University of Arizona.

Jodie Morrison is currently serving as acting CEO of Q32 Bio and was previously a venture partner at Atlas. Prior to Q32 Bio she served as CEO of Cadent Therapeutics (until its sale to Novartis in 2020), interim CEO at Keryx Biopharmaceuticals (managed Akebia merger), COO at Syntimmune (acquired by Alexion), and CEO of Tokai Pharmaceuticals (led 2014 IPO). Before her tenure in executive leadership, she held positions in clinical and medical affairs at companies including Dyax, Curis, and Diacrin. Ms Morrison received her business training through the GBEP program at the MIT Sloan School of Management, her clinical research certification from Boston University School of Medicine and her BA in neuroscience from Mount Holyoke College. Ms Morrison has been awarded the Boston Business Journal’s “Power 50” and “Women to Watch” awards and WEST’s “Making a Difference” award.
