Nathanial "Nat" Ramuthaga, is a Registered Medical Scientist with HPCSA & Registered Natural Scientist with SACNASP. He is also a certified Co-active Coach who is currently working at Roche Pharmaceuticals as Clinical Operations Portfolio Leader (COPL) PDG, SA & SSA and Geo Lead Roche– SA& Africa. Mr Ramuthaga previously held the position of Country Head of Clinical Operations South Africa, Sub-Sahara- Roche PDG. He serves as a member of IPASA Clinical Trials Group. He is also a Member of the South African Clinical Trials Association (SACRA) and a member of Institute of Southern Africa Directors (IODSA). His qualifications include B.Sc. (Unin, now UoL) BSc Hons. MSc. (MEDUNSA, now SMU), diploma in Business Management (Damelin Management School) & post graduate diploma in Marketing Management (PDMA, UNISA). Mr Ramuthaga's work experience includes Research Fellow, Medical Technical officer, Medical Scientist/Lecturer Microbiology (Medical University of Southern Africa MEDUNSA, now SMU). He has published a number of articles of research in peer reviewed journals. He has been in pharma for over 25 years, at Pfizer Global Pharmaceuticals as a Clinical Research Associate/ Senior CRA (CRA); Brand/Product Manager; Clinical Research Manager ; Director of Clinical Research , Senior Regional Head of Clinical Operation - Africa & Middle East; Sr. Director Compliance Oversight for Africa Middle East; Principal Compliance Officer; Trained and practiced as Mentor & Coach, Handling the Press, Ethics Certificate (WITS University). Mr Ramuthaga has done extensive work over 25 years for Capacity building both in South Africa and in sub-Saharan region, Kenya, Mali, Malawi, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Benin, Egypt , Gabon etc.
Mr Ramuthaga has General Pharmaceutical Health care consulting as Council Member of the Global Gerson Lehrman Group (GLG) Inc. and Guide point International. He served at St Peters College, Sunninghill, Sandton member Council and as Chairperson of the Marketing subcommittee for 5 years and Chairman of the board for 3 years. He served as a member of the SA Regulatory Authority’s Medicines Control Council (MCC/ SAHPRA). He is a Clinical Trials Review Committee (CTC) member as an Independent Protocol Reviewer. He also served a two-term 3-year period (6 years) representing Pharma as a member of the National Research Ethics Council appointed to Register, Regulate Audit and Oversee Ethics Committees in South Africa as well as advising the Ministry of Health. He has worked on over 500 R&D clinical trials in new and extended chemical entities (NCEs) over these years. He has worked on Capacity building for Ethics and Regulatory Authorities and Investigator training for over 10 years training more than 4000 Investigators, site staff and Ethics Committee members in South Africa and rest of the Continental Africa.
Mr Ramuthaga worked at WITS University as Business Development Manager for WITS University’s Health Consortium for Clinical Research, a wholly owned subsidiary of University of Witwatersrand, 2017/2018.
