Conference Forum Proud to Support Dance Against Cancer
April 19, 2016
The Conference Forum is proud to support Dance Against Cancer (DAC). The 6th annual performance took place on April 25th at the AXA Equitable Theater in NYC. Dance Against Cancer brings together top dance companies and the Broadway community for an evening of beautiful performances and world premiere solos. This year’s event featured performances from stars of the New York City Ballet, American Ballet Theatre, Alvin Ailey, Parsons Dance and An American In Paris on Broadway.
“We are inspired by the voluntarism of A list dancers who are helping fight cancer through their performing art and we want to help support them”, said Valerie Bowling, Executive Director, Conference Forum.
Since 2011, DAC co-founders Erin Fogarty-Bittner and Daniel Ulbricht have pulled together a star-studded roster of dancers to participate in this fundraising event that is deeply personal to them. Having both lost a parent to the disease, Fogarty-Bittner and Ulbricht know how shattering such diagnoses can be to patients and their families.
Producing an evening of dance performance to benefit the American Cancer Society (ACS) was a no-brainer for the pair, who wanted to pay tribute to those who have died from the disease, but also to support those living with it and to fuel the race for a cure. “Our long-term aim is to eradicate this awful disease. Our near-term goal is to use dance, to use this gift that we have, as the primary mode to celebrate and create awareness,” explains Ulbricht. With its focus on producing conferences to help advance drug development, the Conference Forum hopes to bring more awareness of the DAC event to the life science community.
